Did you know there's a type of secret language involved with TTC (trying to conceive)? This site does a good job of laying out what all the acronyms stand for. Before I found that site though, I would read things on websites about trying to conceive and not know what they were talking about! When to "bd", when to "poas" - it's all very cryptic and confusing. And don't even get me started on the ovulation kits! You think to yourself, "I am a reasonably intelligent adult, I should be able to take a look at this stick and know what these lines mean." And yet, you start debating internally over whether one line is just a shade different magenta than the other and whether you've missed your ovulation "window" because the lines never look quite definitive enough. And then you start downloading fertility apps that try to track these things for you and tell you when's the best time to have sex, and using all these online calendars that show you your most fertile days (as indicated by the smiling flower in bloom, of course :). It's craziness! Mostly though, you just mentally cross your fingers and hope that one of these months all the sticks and planning pay off and try not to be too crushed every time another month passes and you've got to start all over again.
