The big reveal
Finally the long-awaited reveal date at work. I'd been waiting for this monthly staff meeting because the February one was just a week or two too early, and also because people in my office are nosy and I figured the longer I could keep my news to myself, the less I'd have to deal with unsolicited parenting advice :) As per usual, the meeting dragged on and on, and every time I thought it was coming to an end I'd get all nervous and prepared to raise my hand at the "Does anybody have anything else?" query, and then somebody else would start talking. It was agonizing, but finally I got my chance and told my department. I encouraged people to spread the news because I figured the way the gossip network goes at my workplace, everybody would know by lunchtime. Somehow, days later, people still didn't know and I was forced to send out a mass e-mail because I felt silly walking up to random people and saying "Hey, guess what? I'm pregnant!" And is it wrong that after a while when everybody kept asking, "Are you excited?!" that I was oh-so-tempted to give them a snarky answer like, "Oh, actually, it was totally an accident and we're really bummed about the news."?
